Wrather West Kentucky Museum -

Murray State University's first building, erected in 1924, received
extensive renovations and was rededicated as the Wrather West
Kentucky Museum in 1982. The museum features several permanent and
changing exhibits. West Kentucky history abounds at the museum
which highlights the social, economical, and cultural development of
this area. Wrather West Kentucky Museum is open Monday through
Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to
1:00 p.m. The facility is closed on Sunday and all university
holidays. |

displayed from Paducah's history in the 1905 Market House include
the century-old interior of the List Drug Store, and a life-like

Paducah Railroad Museum

Paducah's only railroad museum contains a model train layout and
local and national history exhibits. Sponsored by the Paducah
Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society. Located in the
upper offices of the N.C. & St. L. Railway Freight office - contains
displays of equipment and memorabilia. Located in the 2nd
floor of historic Nashville, Chattanooga & St. Louis Railroad
freight house.

Pearl’s Premier Fresh Water Pearl Farm & Museum

Also featured is a 3-7 hour guided tour, appropriately named “A
Pearl Of A Tour.” “A Pearl Of A Tour” treks pearl enthusiasts
through the pearl cultivation process and explains the unique mussel
industry that dominates the mid-section of Kentucky Lake for
approximately 40 miles each side of the Kentucky-Tennessee state
line. The tour includes a “bird’s eye” view of the procedures
involved in the pearl culturing. On the guided excursion, groups
receive a demonstrative narration of the two-to-three year process
it takes to produce a quality freshwater pearl. The pearl tour is
conducted for those interested in learning about the production,
manufacturing, and history of Tennessee’s official state gem, the
Tennessee River freshwater pearl, and the musseling industry in this
region. |
