Hello
friends. Summer is here. The bass fishing remains simply
incredible. Our lakes have really shown out this year. There are
good fish being caught in the grass, and on the ledges. Whatever
your favorite bait, you can tie it on and throw it just about
anywhere and get bit. We have been concentrating on ledges,
primarily throwing big worms. We have had several days of good
spoon fishing as the fish move in good schools. The Lucky Strike
5 1/2 incher is what we are throwing.
If you
like shallow fishing try a white jig ripped threw shallow
milfoil. There is a great deal of milfoil in the backs of most
bays. If you're ledge fishing, try to locate the big shad. The
schools of big fish are following the schools of large shad.
The
whites and stripes have been very active on the main lake bars.
Jumps erupting all throughout the day as these aggressive
feeders gorge on schools of shad. Just about any moving lure
will get you bit during a jump, and if you got a topwater handy,
you'll have some real fun. Remember to look for the gulls as
they take advantage of the feeding frenzy, they can be a real
good clue as to the whereabouts of a big school of feeding
whites and stripes.
Although we have been primarily bass fishing, we have reports of
some good bluegill catches around banks laden with mayflys.
Crickets or pinched worms will catch you a basket full of these
tasty filets. Small pop-r's are also a fun way to catch these
fish on light tackle, and you never know when that 3-5 lb bass
will be lurking just below the surface either. It is always
great when a nearby largemouth will take the bait intended for a
bluegill, it makes for a whole lotta fun.
Get out
and enjoy the summer and enjoy our lakes.
