Paducah's Quilt Show

In 1984 Bill and Meredith Schroeder founded American Quilter's Society (AQS) in Paducah, Kentucky after discovering a need for the worldwide recognition of the beauty of quilting as an art form. AQS continues to support the accomplishments of todays quilters by promoting the study and development of quilts.

With 1500 members in its first year, American Quilter's Society has grown to include over 50000 amateur and professional quilters, quilting enthusiasts as well as contributors, collectors and admirers of the art of quilting.

AQS held its first show and contest in april 1985, with cash $26000. This past years how featured $100000 in prize money, the largest purse in the world.

Quilt city USA: for the love of fabric captures the excitement of the American Quilter's Society Quilt Show and contest in Paducah, Kentucky. Every year, this small Kentucky city transforms itself into "Quilt City USA" attracting 37,000 quilt enthusiasts from all over the world from japan to australia and from england to a person a block over.

This second installment of the successful For the Love of Fabric series includes: artistic videography of the stunning award-winning quilts; an exclusive interview with the British winner of the "best of show" award; interviews with public television's popular quilting program hosts Sue Hausmann (America Sews), Marianne Fons and Liz Porter (Love of Quilting), and Eleanor Burns (Quilt in a Day); commentary on the amazing quilts from the distinguished quilt show contest judges; interviews with many of the award-winners who discuss how they made their quilts; coverage of a unique special exhibition by male quiltmakers; and unique and intimate access to the preparation activities involved in mounting an exhibition of this size and reputation.

The Museum of the American Quilter's Society in Paducah, Kentucky hosts a collection, changing exhibits, workshops, festivals, a Museum Shop and much more! Enjoy the Museum's collection of inspiring quilts by today's quilt makers, such as Caryl Bryer Fallert. Experience quiltmaking & other arts no matter what your age at workshops and other events.
