Join us at Eva Beach for our annual Free Fishing Day Youth Fishing Rodeo. This event is open to all kids 15 and under. National Trails Day Hike - Pilot Knob Hike

Nathan Bedford Forrest State Park - Pilot Knob Folk-Life Center, Camden

Join Us as we celebrate National Trails Day with a free guided hike. We will be exploring the Pilot Knob Trail which is a 3 mile loop that traverses the park. We will be following a ridge along Kentucky lake and then exploring some of the creek bottoms before returning to Pilot Knob. The hike will be led by Park Staff and everyone is invited to attend. Please dress for the weather and wear sturdy hiking shoes. Please bring a drink. We will be departing from the Pilot Knob Interpretive Center at 5:00 PM.

National Trails Day - Railroad Stroll

Johnsonville State Historic Park - 90 Nell Beard Rd, New Johnsonville

Join us for National Trails Day, 2025! Seasonal Ranger Jacob will guide a stroll down the historic Nashville and Northwestern Military Railroad. The railroad connected the Tennessee River and the city of Nashville during the Civil War, and served as a lifeline for commerce in Johnsonville's Town Era.

This hike will cover roughly 1.5 miles in distance, in the form of an "out and back" style hike. The terrain is mostly level, with only two sections of steep elevation, over approximately 15 feet each.

Please wear appropriate clothing for the weather, including closed toed shoes. Recommended to bring a water bottle with you. Park staff will provide bug spray and sunscreen.

Fort Donelson Presents "Rumble on the River"

Fort Donelson National Battlefield - Lock D Loop Tour Stop #4, Dover

On February 14, 1862, Union City-Class Gunboats attempted to shell Fort Donelson and capture the fort in the same way they had captured Fort Henry a week earlier. However, instead of capturing the fort Confederate artillerist heavily damaged the gunboats, killed 10 sailors and wounded 44 and suffered no casualties during their engagement. These new technological marvels failed in what both sides thought would be an easy victory for the new boats. Join park staff every 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month at 10AM to learn about these iron ships and what happened to them on Valentines Day in 1862.

Programs are subject to staffing availability. In the interest of safety, in the event of inclement weather, programs are subject to cancelation. Information as to program status will be available online, or by contacting the Ranger office at 931-232-0576.

Fort Donelson Presents "Rumble on the River"

Fort Donelson National Battlefield - Lock D Loop Tour Stop #4, Dover

On February 14, 1862, Union City-Class Gunboats attempted to shell Fort Donelson and capture the fort in the same way they had captured Fort Henry a week earlier. However, instead of capturing the fort Confederate artillerist heavily damaged the gunboats, killed 10 sailors and wounded 44 and suffered no casualties during their engagement. These new technological marvels failed in what both sides thought would be an easy victory for the new boats. Join park staff every 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month at 10AM to learn about these iron ships and what happened to them on Valentines Day in 1862.

Programs are subject to staffing availability. In the interest of safety, in the event of inclement weather, programs are subject to cancelation. Information as to program status will be available online, or by contacting the Ranger office at 931-232-0576.

Hop on the Moneymaker Trail during Thanksgiving week and crank out this fun challenge by running, biking, or walking on a full belly! Beginning November 22nd, the Moneymaker Trail will be marked off with a start line and finish line for a 1.5-mile trail. Ride it, walk it, or run it as many times as you'd like during November 22nd-30th, and mark your time down on the leaderboard (there will be better markers this year). This friendly competition is a way to get out and get active during the Thanksgiving holiday!
